LEVELS

PRE-SCHOOL (AGES 3-5)

The emphasis is on learning through imaginative movement adventures and focuses on children’s natural movement and development. Boys and girls of this age thrive as they travel to the ‘Magic Castle’ sail off to ‘Treasure Island’ or explore the world of ‘Peter Pan’.

AGE 5+

We offer graded classes where the emphasis is not just on fun, but, on the development of movement skills, confidence, fitness and self-esteem. Essential social skills are developed within an environment that nurtures individuality.  Class length varies with age and standard. Royal Academy of Dance Examinations and Assessments are offered from Primary to Grade 8. Select classes will be offered Affiliate Training Programme Assessments as this is integrated into the school.

Danscentre’s unique programme of study is offered. Children will learn the foundations of classical technique along with associated generic and qualitative movement skills. EXAMINATIONS

Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme.

Danscentre is one of only two dance schools in Scotland registered to offer The Royal Ballet School’s Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme (ATAP). ATAP extends The Royal Ballet School’s System of Training to the students of affiliated dance teachers. ATAP students study ballet technique, but also learn to create and appreciate Ballet, with opportunities to choreograph and review dance works. This ensures a more holistic approach to the learning of dance, with students having access to The Royal Ballet’s ethos and expertise. As with other assessments within Danscentre, students are entered for the relevant ATAP Level when they have reached the required standard of learning.

Royal Academy of Dance

Danscentre offers examinations at graded and vocational levels in association with R.A.D. All students have the option of taking examinations and all classes incorporate both syllabus and free work, developing a wide and sound subject base. All examinations are accredited by the QCA, from NVQ level 1 to level 4.
