We have had an exceptionally busy last few weeks of term and have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating everybody's hard work : from inviting loved ones in to watch our leavers last classes to RAD exams right the way from Pre-Primary to Vocational levels and of course our ISTD and ATAP exam sessions a few weeks ago. Scroll below to read more about what's gone on at Danscentre this term to round up of the fantastic year it's been! We are wishing all of our Danscentre pupils, parents and friends a wonderful summer holidays.
2024 Leavers
It's been an emotional final week at Danscentre saying goodbye and good luck to our 2024 leavers, many of whom have danced with us for 15 years since their first pre-school class! Parents and loved ones were welcomed into the building to watch some of their final classes to join in the celebrating of everything they have achieved at Danscentre through many shows, exams, classes and performances! We will miss their energy in the studios but wish them all the best for their next steps

Exams
This week we have had RAD Examiner Mrs Kettlewell at Danscentre examining groups from Pre-Primary through to the vocational level Intermediate Foundation, with a few of our oldest girls sitting their Advanced 2 in London later this summer. We had a huge ISTD exam session earlier in June with well deserved results all around. Completing an exam, whatever the level is a huge achievement and is a testament to the hard work and dedication put into weekly classes and students should be really proud of themselves!
Alongside RAD and ISTD exams, Danscentre is one of only two dance schools in Scotland registered to offer The Royal Ballet School’s Affiliate Training and Assessment Programme (ATAP). ATAP extends The Royal Ballet School’s System of Training to the students of affiliated dance teachers. ATAP students study ballet technique, but also learn to create and appreciate Ballet, with opportunities to choreograph and review dance works. This ensures a more holistic approach to the learning of dance, with students having access to The Royal Ballet’s ethos and expertise. As with other assessments within Danscentre, students are entered for the relevant ATAP Level when they have reached the required standard of learning.
We also held our own DC Award session alongside other Ballet and Modern exams. These DC Awards are designed to give children the opportunity to experience an exam like atmosphere, as it helps prepare them for their future in dance if they do decide to take the exam route. Internal DC Assessors/Teachers really enjoyed being able to watch students from other classes and recognise their progress. Well done!
Higher and National 5 Dance
Take a look at our National 5 and Higher Dance students after their practical exam. A big well done to them all for completing the course. the group have all shown so much development in their knowledge of dance, choreography and team work over this year and we are very proud. Fingers crossed for their results in August! Danscentre is proud to be an SQA Accredited centre and has also been able to offer the National Progression Award (NPA) to several groups of eligible students this year, many of whom are only in S1!
Feature Week - Proud to be DC
This month, we held our final DC Feature Week of the year with the theme - Proud to be DC. Teachers came up with lots of creative ways to celebrate and students were really able to show off their creativity in lots of different ways.
