End of Term Round Up: Spring Term

We hope you had a lovely start to the year and are ready to get going with the busy Summer term ahead. We have had a jam packed start to the year with exams, guest teachers and show planning - here's a snap shot of what we’ve been up to!

Exams

We recently had a very busy exam period with over 4 days of ISTD modern and 60 pupils taking part in awards and exams from Primary 1 right through to Advanced 2. Completing an exam is a huge achievement and everyone should be very proud!

A big shout out to our Advanced 2 group for completing the final level of assessment within ISTD Modern. This group had their first vocational exam cancelled in March 2020 due to Covid. This is the highest level of award in vocational and requires an immense amount of strength and determination. Congratulations to Lois, Eilidh, Isla, Lidia!

National 5 and Higher Dance

After many months of hard work, 17 pupils sat their National 5 and Higher dance exams. A sharing evening took place at Peterculter Village Hall which gave parents, guardians and younger pupils a chance to see the exam pupils' choreography, solos and mood boards.

Pupils have worked very hard at choreographing their pieces over the past few months and they should be very proud of their creativity and hard work!

Assistant Appreciation

We said a big ‘Thank You!’ to all our class assistants this term who we are so grateful for. They inspire the next generation of dancers through their care, support and guidance and are fantastic role models for our youngest dancers!

Guest Teacher

We were very lucky to have DC Alumni George Adams back to teach a couple of classes with our younger pupils! George has worked with many esteemed organisations both as a performer and choreographer and is also the co-founder of LPM Dance based in Lancashire. George has also played a pivotal role in in dance and health initiatives across the UK and has dedicated 10 years mentoring both disabled and non-disabled dancers through his company and Independence Scotland. We are so proud of all his achievements and the impact his work has made!

DC Pop-Up Shop

We opened our Dansfit shop this term after converting our upstairs space to make a great pop-up shop! The pop-up is open Saturdays 1-4pm and Wednesdays 2-5pm and online orders are also available at all times via our website! We said a big farewell and thank you to our fabulous Diane who has been instrumental in transitioning the shop from Rosemount to DC - we couldn’t have done it without her!

Encore HMT 2025

Preparations for our HMT show ‘Encore’ are well underway and costumes have been arriving over the past few weeks! Choreography is well under way in classes and our teachers are working hard to make sure that everything is in place behind the scenes.

Business Sponsorships

We are approaching local businesses to ask them to consider providing sponsorship for our HMT show 'Encore' in June this year. You can help us in many ways firstly by taking an advert in our programme with quarter page, half page and full page adverts available.

We are also inviting businesses to be our principle sponsors at each of the four shows where business will be named in an announcement on the night (or afternoon) of the show stating who has sponsored the performance, a mention of your business in the programme, two free tickets and provision for a display created by your firm to be set up in the foyer of the theatre.
